Fast - Discharge - Initiated KrF Laser
Intense laser emission has been observed from the KrF molecule formed by a chemical reaction initiated by fast-discharge circuitry. With a gas mixture of He:Kr:NF, = 500:50:1 and a sample pressure of 700 Torr, an output energy of 0. 8 mj was measured from a 25-nsec laser pulse (FWHM). Spectral analysis of the laser emission indicated laser action at 248.5 and 249.5 nm.
متن کاملBeam initiated discharge channels for neutralized ion-beam transport
High current discharge channels are an interesting alternative for the transport of intense ion beams. A sufficiently dense plasma can neutralize both beam-space charge and current and provides a strong focusing magnetic field all the way along the channel. Laser initiated discharge channels were subject to detailed investigations in the past few years at GSI [1, 2]. Recently, stable discharges...
متن کاملDiagnostics of Laser Initiated Plasma Channels for Ion Beam Transport
Laser initiated, free standing discharge channels offer many attractive advantages for the transport and focusing of intense ion beams [1, 2]. Discharge plasmas can neutralize both current and space charge of such beams, while the azimuthal magnetic field provides strong focusing all the way through the channel. Experiments at GSI have produced 50 cm long stable plasma channels with peak curren...
متن کاملLaser-diode-pumped Nd:YAG active-mirror laser.
We describe a simple design, laser-diode-pumped cw Nd:YAG active-mirror laser and present a thermal analysis of the crystal. A cw output power of 2.4 W and an M(2) beam quality value of less than 1.9 at an incident pumping power of 8.9 W were obtained. From the thermal analysis we predict that the output power can be increased by increasing the pump beam diameter and the pump power at a constan...
